In addition to world class trout fishing, the area around the San Juan Quality Waters provides a large amount of activities. The Four Corners area has several Indian Ruins, Scenic Narrow Gauge Railroad at Durango, CO and one at Chama, NM also, Golf, Skiing, River Rafting, Hiking, Camping, Boating & Fishing at Navajo Lake & Marina, Fishing at other small rivers and many other outdoor activities.

All guided trips include use of rods reels,terminal tackle and flies (if you have your own equipment that you would like to use instead, that’s great, let me know ahead of time if possible). Full Day Float & Lower River floats include lunch and bottled water, there will be some room in a cooler if you want to bring a specific beverage. Waders can be rented if you need them for wade or combo trips.

Non-Guided Float Trips + tax
Non-Guided trips are me rowing you down the river in my boat. You are responsible for everything else, rods, reels, tackle, flies, knowledge, sunscreen, sunglasses, ice, daily parking pass, etc. I will have a cooler on board if you bring your lunch, beverages. Waders. boots, rods & reels can be rented locally if needed, terminal tackle, flies, etc. can be purchased locally also.

Novice Fly Fishing Lessons + tax
Full Day lessons are 8 hrs, Half Day Lessons are 4 hrs. Lessons include learning tackle, terminology, how to rig up, basic casting, starting to read the water, where the fish are more likely to be and more. Waders are highly recommended to get the most out of your learning. Waders may be rented locally if needed.
Directions
There are several destinations that provide extremely beautiful scenic drives along the way some of which are from Durango, CO past the Purgatory Ski Resort to Silverton, CO to Ouray, CO (the Million Dollar Hwy.), around 3-1/2 hrs. to Taos, NM, around 3 hrs. to Santa Fe, NM which has the oldest church in the US and a vast amount of history.
From the Albuquerque Sunport
From the Albuquerque Sunport to the San Juan takes about 3-hours. From the Albuquerque Sunport travel west to Interstate 25 and then to north on interstate 25 to exit 242. Take exit 242 and then go West on US 550. US 550 will travel north and west through Cuba, NM. Continue on to Bloomfield, at Bloomfield, turn East on US 64, continue 11.6 miles to NM 511. Turn North on NM 511 and continue 8.2 miles to the community of Navajo Dam. At the community of Navajo Dam, turn left at the intersection of NM 173 and you will find café’s fly shops, a motel, convenience store with gasoline & diesel or stay straight to the Quality Waters which start in another 1.4 miles at the Crusher Hole area and continues for another 3 miles past Simon Point area, Munoz area and the Texas Hole area to the BOR area just below the Navajo Dam.
From Bloomfield
From Bloomfield turn East on US 64, continue 11.6 miles to NM 511. Turn North on NM 511 and continue 8.2 miles to the community of Navajo Dam. At the community of Navajo Dam, turn left at the intersection of NM 173 and you will find café’s fly shops, a motel, convenience store with gasoline & diesel or stay straight to the Quality Waters which start in another 1.4 miles at the Crusher Hole area and continues for another 3 miles past Simon Point area, Munoz area and the Texas Hole area to the BOR area just below the Navajo Dam.
From Aztec
From Aztec turn SE from Hwy.550 onto NM 173 go 1 mile then turn East onto NM 173 East continue 17 miles to NM 173 E and NM 511 turn left on NM 511 to the Quality Waters which start in another 1.4 miles at the Crusher Hole area and continues for another 3 miles past Simon Point area, Munoz area and the Texas Hole area to the BOR area just below the Navajo Dam
FAQ
The Quality Waters are a unique tailwater that can be fished nearly 365 days a year due to a steady water temperature of around 40 degrees (give or take) feeding it from the bottom of the Navajo Lake at the dam.
You must cancel your reservation at least 10 days before booked date to avoid being charged in full.
The rental of waders, boots, rod & reel is available at one of the local fly shops at the Navajo Dam Community if needed. Fishing licenses are available from there also if you forgot to get one before you arrived.
